Beard oil is, in short, an oil you apply to your beard to care for and maintain it. A more technical explanation of what a beard oil does is that it moisturizes the beard and the skin underneath.
Why beard oil?
It minimizes the appearance of dandruff and dry skin flakes in the beard. It also ensures that the beard becomes softer and more pliable. Like hair oil, it gives the beard a shiny and well-groomed appearance. Crumbs and other food residues therefore also have difficulty collecting if you use beard oil.
The product itself consists of one or more moisturizing oils that are mixed together. Based on the type of oil used, the beard oils can be differentiated based on exclusivity, price and quality. Generally speaking, beard oils are more suitable for those with shorter beards. If you suffer from an itchy beard, beard oil comes to your rescue. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a product that gives your beard hold, you should probably consider a beard wax instead.
Applying beard oil
It's very straight forward. You add the desired amount in the palm of your hand and very gently massage the beard oil through your hands and then into the beard and beard roots. A good tip here is to get all the way to the skin, as it requires nourishment in order for you to grow healthy and strong hair. If possible, it is recommended to apply the beard oil immediately after bathing.
The reason for this is that the skin under the beard is exfoliated and the oils can thus be more easily absorbed into the skin. To achieve maximum care, beard oil should be reapplied in the evening, possibly before you go to bed, so the beard has the best conditions to stay healthy.
Which beard oil should you buy?
The most important thing is that you know your skin well enough to know what you can and cannot tolerate. Some beard oils, for example, contain a bit of perfume, which can be a nuisance for people with a perfume allergy. You should therefore always check whether the oil contains any other ingredients that could be a disadvantage for you. After all this has been reviewed, we would always recommend a beard oil that comes in a tight, sealed package. It might be a bit of pineapple in its own juice, but we think our very own Classic Beard Oil delivers and is quite an excellent choice.
